This Sat will be the first Savannah WBL ride for the 2010-2011 Savannah Winter Bike League training series. The ride will begin on Saturday at the Gallery at 8 a.m. with the normal Saturday ride. At the school school we will form up right behind the fast group. All levels of riders are welcome. Once on 17 the fast group and any interested in drilling it will go up the road. Everyone left in our group is more than happy to do our WBL ride or drop off behind us or jump off the front to stay with the fast group.
We invite all that attend our WBL ride that you adhere to the double pace line and pace of 17-22 mph. Remember the idea is to go easy and each WBL we will add more mileage/distance as well as attack zones for points.
For this first one we will not have sag.
There will be two Attack/Sprint zones but only B riders, men cat 5, and woman Cat 3 and 4 riders are eligible for points. However, all other riders are encouraged to lead out the rider in these categories of your choice. Make deals and help one another!
Everyone that shows up for the WBL and wants to participate is invited to sign in, in order to get your points. All people showing up for our ride automatically get one point if you sign in. Please see Jared to sign in.
The first sprint zone will be the right turn off of Jimmy D. Once the whistle blows the zone is officially open. The sprint sign is the first sign after the grass median that divides the road about 2.5 K down the road. The second one will be the finish line on Old Louisville road.
The route will be the Saturday ride up to Old River Rd. Instead of making a right we will stay on Old River Rd and follow the Sunday short route option that makes our way over to Jimmy D. After the over pass by Ga. Tech we will be taking a right off of Jimmy D and the first Sprint Zone will open up via whistle blast. Re-group at the BP store at end of road. The second sprint zone will begin just after the light on hwy 80 at the last over pass. The sprint will be the final finish line on old Lousville rd.
*PRIZES FOR THIS WEEK* A hunters safety vest to serve as leaders jersey for the rides. Other prizes will be posted as they are available or announced at the starting location before setting off.
